2 Corinthians 8:23 - "If anyone asks who Titus is, say that he is my partner, my helper in helping you!" (TLB)
Developing a strong 'Parnership'
Do we have enough conviction to replace Titus with our name?
Are we 'Partners' in building the Kingdom of God?
Is the Kingdom advancing because of your influence?
Who are we in 'Partnership' with? The Bible says, "Whoever is a partner with a thief hates his own life; he swears to tell the truth, but reveals nothing." (Proverbs 29:24)
John was a true partner!
John, out of all the disciples was the only one willing to die with Jesus.
"Simon Peter and another disciple (John) were following Jesus. Because this disciple was known to the high priest, he went with Jesus into the high priest's courtyard." (John 18:15 NIV; 19:26; 20:2)
He was known by all, even the high priest, yet he stayed at the side of Jesus. "Peter had to wait outside at the door."
True partners remain faithful to the end.
Peter had great revelation of Jesus but only became a partner after the Cross.
His revelation; "You are the Christ..."
He walked on water; Caught a fish with a gold coin in its mouth; All this did not make him a partner!
Repentance brought Peter into full 'Partnership' with Jesus. (John 21:15-18)
Only once Peter was restored could he enjoy the benefits of John; "Follow Me! (vs 19)
Peter had to learn not only to trust Christ but to follow Christ - regardless the road he took.
Benefits of a true Partner
Not one questioned John in the courts of the high Priest but they questioned Peter.
Peter was questioned to the point of denying Christ - John remained faithful.
Jesus looked at Peter - helped Peter to a place of repentance - Peter wept. (Luke 22:61)
John, a Partner, remained faithful - Peter, a member of the disciples of Jesus, denied Him.
Adam became a member that chose to hide from God's Presence.
"Now you are no longer strangers to God and foreigners to heaven, but you are members (Partners) of God's very own family... and you belong in God's household with every other Christian." (Eph. 2:19)
What are the benefits of a "Partner"?
- It identifies me as a genuine believer. (Eph. 2:19; Rom. 12:5)
- It provides a spiritual family to support and encourage me in my walk with Christ. (Gal. 6:1-2; Heb. 10:24-25)
- It gives me a place to discover and use my gifts in ministry. (1 Cor. 12: 4-27)
- It places me under the spiritual protection of Godly leaders. (Heb. 13:17; Acts 20:28-29)
- It gives me the accountability I need to grow. (Eph. 5:21)
- It provides me with financial wisdom and protection. (Mal. 3:8-11)
